The Valentine’s Day Special6 min read

Feb 17, 2018

It's Valentine's Day, and we want to share the story of a romantic marriage proposal for which we were fortunate enough to be chosen as the special event venue. Johnny found us through Peerspace, where he was searching for unique event locations. He contacted us about an event space rental, sight-unseen.

It’s Valentine’s Day. Jenn and Greg escaped to Catalina to celebrate the occasion and enjoyed a quiet, romantic island night together.

This is not that video.

No, instead, we want to share with you a magical moment that happened at studio/stage last month.

Early in January, Greg got a message through one of our booking services with an unusual request. Johnny had found us through Peerspace, where he was searching for unique event locations. He contacted us about an event space rental for his surprise marriage proposal. We were honored that he wanted to use our event venue for his special event. After answering a couple questions, Johnny booked studio/stage, sight unseen.

To find out how things went, you have to watch this week’s episode, embedded below!

Spoiler Alert

She said yes!!

So, thank you Johnny! Best wishes, Nami! Congratulations to you both. If you find yourself looking for a unique wedding venue in L.A., let us know!

About What We Do When We’re Dark:

This vlog highlights events and productions happening at the various StageCrafts properties, as well as share some of the fun things the owners do, both theatrical and mundane.

What do we mean by “dark”? Well, the TDF Theatre Dictionary tells us a playhouse (like studio/stage) is “lit” when there’s a show running in it—until the production shutters and the theatre is said to “go dark.” That’s almost never a good thing, at least as far as the building’s landlord is concerned. With luck, it won’t be long until a new show loads in and the theatre is lit again.

For the context of this vlog, “dark” means any time a performance or an event is not actually in progress on our stage, and our goal is to answer the burning question “what happens in The Room Where It Happens when there’s nothing happening?”
